Music Lessons
Personalized instruction across multiple instruments for students of all ages and experience levels.
Piano Lessons
Our piano instruction covers classical technique, contemporary styles, and music theory integrated throughout your learning. Whether you're drawn to Bach, jazz standards, or modern compositions, we build a foundation that supports whatever direction your interests take you.
Lessons cover proper hand position, sight reading, scales, chord progressions, and musical interpretation. Advanced students explore improvisation, composition, and performance preparation.
Guitar Lessons
Acoustic and electric guitar instruction covering fingerstyle, strumming patterns, lead playing, and improvisation. We work across genres from folk and classical to rock and blues.
Beginners start with basic chords and simple songs that sound good quickly. As you progress, we introduce barre chords, scales, music theory, and more complex techniques tailored to your musical goals.
Drum Lessons
Rhythm fundamentals, coordination development, and playing across multiple genres. Lessons include rudiments, reading drum notation, developing independence between limbs, and building your vocabulary of fills and grooves.
We have acoustic drum kits available, and we can also work with students using electronic kits at home. Practice pads are an effective tool for developing technique between full kit sessions.
Violin Lessons
Bowing technique, intonation, and repertoire from baroque to contemporary. Violin requires patience in the early stages as your ear and muscle memory develop, but the rewards are substantial.
We use a combination of classical method books and pieces selected for your interests. Young students often start with Suzuki or similar approaches, while adult learners may prefer a more theoretical foundation from the beginning.
Saxophone Lessons
Breath control, embouchure development, and technique for alto or tenor saxophone. Jazz phrasing, improvisation, and reading lead sheets feature prominently, though we also cover classical repertoire.
The saxophone is relatively approachable for beginners compared to some wind instruments, and progress in the first months can be quite encouraging. We can advise on instrument rental or purchase options.
Voice Training
Vocal technique, breathing exercises, pitch control, and performance skills. Whether your interest lies in classical, musical theatre, pop, or other styles, we develop healthy vocal production that protects your voice while expanding your range and control.
Lessons include warm-ups, technical exercises, and repertoire work. We also address performance anxiety and stage presence for those interested in singing publicly.

What Happens During Lessons
Warm-Up and Review
Each session begins with technical exercises and a review of what you've practiced since the previous lesson. This identifies areas that need more attention and celebrates progress.
New Material
Introduction of new techniques, pieces, or concepts that build on what you've already mastered. The pace adjusts based on how quickly you're absorbing information.
Guided Practice
Working through challenging sections together, breaking them down into manageable parts, and developing strategies for effective home practice.
Application and Performance
Playing through pieces or exercises with instructor feedback, learning to self-correct, and building confidence in your abilities.
Common Questions
Absolutely. Some students discover their initial choice isn't quite right, and we're happy to facilitate a transition. The musical foundation you've built will transfer to the new instrument.
Most instruments can be started at age five or six, though some like drums or saxophone are easier to begin around age seven when children have more physical coordination. There's no upper age limit - we regularly teach students beginning instruments in their sixties and seventies.
We support students who wish to take ABRSM or similar examinations, but we don't require it. Some learners appreciate the structure and validation that exams provide, while others prefer to focus purely on pieces they enjoy. Both paths are equally valid.
We ask for 24 hours notice when possible. With reasonable notice, lessons can be rescheduled within the same week or added to a future week. Emergency cancellations are handled case by case.
Yes. We'll discuss which instructor might be the best match based on your goals, learning style, and schedule. If you'd like to meet a teacher before committing to regular lessons, we can arrange a trial session.
